Growing Our Union

Under Charmaine’s leadership, UNAC/UHCP surpassed its goal of representing 40,000 healthcare professionals and grew by nine bargaining units and more than 11,000 members.

This growth has expanded our collective voice, strengthened bargaining power, and helped more healthcare professionals organize, win first contracts, and build lasting union power.

Winning Strong Contracts

Charmaine has helped lead major contract campaigns focused on member engagement, strike readiness, staffing accountability, stronger workplace protections, and better wages.

This includes historic Kaiser bargaining victories, first contract wins for newly organized members, and powerful campaigns at St. Francis, SPNN, and Maui.

Strengthening Member Power

UNAC/UHCP has expanded opportunities for members to lead through organizing, bargaining, advocacy, and leadership development.

The Volunteer Member Organizer Program, Bargaining Summit, and expanded member engagement efforts have helped more members participate directly in shaping the future of our union.

Advancing Healthcare Professionals

Charmaine has supported legislative and policy efforts focused on workforce development, healthcare staffing, nurse education, scope of practice protections, and the future of patient care.

These efforts help ensure healthcare professionals have a strong voice in the workplace, in the legislature, and throughout the healthcare system.

Building a Stronger Union

Under Charmaine’s leadership, UNAC/UHCP has strengthened internal systems, expanded transparency and accountability, supported DEI initiatives, helped establish the Judicial Panel, created member relief efforts, and invested in the union’s future.
